Q:First and foremost please let us know about your company?

Q:-What is the difference between a digital asset and crypto asset?

But, we are talking about crypto in the international market. Nearly 30 to 40 countries have already accepted crypto as a currency. But, as an asset, it will be proper. Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has already approved digital assets through a Prepaid Payment Instrument (PPI) license. In the same way, it is upon the government to make crypto legal and it is working rapidly in that direction.

Mr. Natraj Suryawanshi then talked about the recently approved crypto bill in India. He said people who know and understand crypto invest in it and earn a profit from the investment. The bill says that these people will have to give 30% of the profit to the government. There is also a 1% TDS applicable on the exchange required for the transactions that we do with each other.

Q:-Please throw some light on the technology behind crypto and how does it work?

Ans:=A lot of scams happen in the world of digital assets. When we talk about crypto we are discussing digital assets in which there is a decentralized system. This system is made from blockchain technology, which is not hackable. This can have tremendous benefits for the future generation.

Q:-Since you have talked about blockchain and decentralization, please tell us what is the Indian market’s take on it.?

Ans:-India has a population of 135 crores, out of which 65% use Android phones and these people are youngsters. These people are wasting their time and money on YouTube and social media like Facebook, and Instagram. Tower 11 is an amalgamation of symbolic as well as physical derivations of regional architecture that are contemporised for functional efficiency and maximum performance. For instance, the form of the building is inspired by the volumetric characteristics of the India Gate. The two-building volumes have been articulated as two distinct elements united by a core and a striking façade in the central axis. The facade recreates a contemporary adaptation of the triumphant arch of the India Gate, that embraces with regality and through its form recreates the opulent yet welcoming aesthetic. On the one hand, detailed in dark glass panels and brass, the facade with its regal tonality recreates a sturdiness like the carved stones of India Gate as the rays of the sun reflect off it. On the other hand, the high-performance facade maximises pleasant daylight ingress with minimal heat gain and glare control to create comfortable indoor environments.

Though the tower acts as a climax to the axial Candor campus, it also marks the entry into an elegant yet opulent built environment. Inspired by the Taj Mahal’s ethos, the entrance lobby is a three-storied volume, with white marble walls that offer monumentality and grandeur to every visitor. Well-Designed and optimised, expansive floor plates with minimised space wastage create seamless, functional, and efficient spaces. The frequent use of marble to create textured walls along with recessed light fitting details make the interiors a contemporary manifestation of the Taj Mahal, while creating a clean and spotless interior finish.

The building design focuses on crafting experiences and maximum efficiency, with expansive green landscapes, a workspace that creates an experience like no other. Describing the same, architect Ricardo Bofill, Principal Chief Architect for Tower 11, shares, “Orientation through the building is always straightforward with no dark corners, no notches and no wasted corridors. The office space is well lit naturally, with great views. The ground floor is a mix of marble lobbies in elegant white shades and overlooks a black mirror reflective water feature, with a lush garden all around. Big Deal In Gold – A good delivery standard signifies a greater organised trade in the yellow metal

Despite being one of the largest consumers and importers of gold, India does not exert any significant impact in the discovery of gold prices and depends on the international markets for the benchmark price, which is based on London prices. By promoting and adopting Indian Good Delivery Standards (IGDS) as defined by Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), Indian gold markets will become more organised.

Let discuss how IGDS is beneficial to various entities:

1) Government and country

The development of a good delivery standard for any location or country means that there is greater organised trade, formalisation, and recognition that the refiners in the country can produce world-class bullion bars which is acceptable to the larger business community operating in the bullion & jewellery segment. This will go a long way in making Indian Good Delivery (IGD) standard synonymous with good quality and remove the quality discrepancies across various markets in India and bring it in line with the single standard as defined by BIS.

2) Banks

Close to 90 per cent of this gold demand is met through imports, adding to the country’s current account deficit. Of the total gold imports, close to 40 per cent are dore by refiners while the rest is finished gold imported by banks. But, following the dramatic fall in imports of bullion and dore bar (a semi-pure alloy), gold refiners are meeting the current physical demand by recycling jewellery scrap. If the GMS is incentivised for banks by allowing them to open gold metal accounts for customers, that can go a long way in helping use old gold from domestic holdings to meet the country’s requirement of new gold. This can happen if banks are permitted to buy ‘Indian good delivery’ bullion from BIS licensed gold refiners instead of buying from refineries abroad

3) Exchanges

In its endeavour to widen and deepen the Indian capital markets, support the Prime Minister’s vision of “Make in India” and “Atmanirbhar Bharat” of a self-reliant nation and commitment of the Government notified standards, BSE and NSE adopted India good delivery standard BIS IS 17278: 2019 on its commodity platform for gold and silver deliveries from September 2020. Gold bars produced by Indian gold refiners are now accepted for delivery on the NSE and BSE for futures. Even Gold ETFs listed at NSE and BSE will start accepting the deliveries from Indian refiners eventually. Once the international bullion exchange in Gift City starts, hopefully, IGD bars will get delivered as well, which will increase liquidity.

4) Gold Refiners

Under the GMS, Assaying & Hallmarking (A&H) Centers recognised by BIS have been qualified to act as Collection and Purity Testing Centres (CPTC). The gold collected by CPTCs is to be refined by refineries licensed by BIS. And as we know, India does not have ground mines of gold but huge household reserves which can be tapped because Indian gold refiners will now invest more in becoming CPTC as their gold is more accepted

5) Retail customer

Gold lying in customers’ bank lockers or households does not earn them anything. When they store gold in a bank locker, it costs bank locker charges to keep it safe. The Gold Monetisation Scheme (GMS) will help them earn interest on their gold deposits, which will add to their savings. The success of IGD will lead to the success of the GMS and will help retail customers earn an income on their holdings.

Thus IGDS is beneficial a) to government as it will bring imports down and eventual reduction of pressure from CAD and forex reserves, b) to banks, as they would be able to buy BIS licensed gold from local refiners, c) to exchanges as they accept delivery of gold bars produced by Indian refiners and d) to Indian refiners, as they refining volumes would rise. In short, the whole cycle gets completed. Hence, the biggest beneficiary will be the end consumer and is a big deal for everyone.

Brihanmumbai Developers Association (BDA) Mega Unity Webinar Highlights Pain Points Of Real Estate – Underlines the need for all stakeholders to come together on a common platform and convey critical changes that the authorities need to urgently implement

In the face of adversity comes opportunity. The COVID-19 crisis offers the real estate industry a ‘never before’ opportunity to reset and redo to reinvigorate cities like Mumbai. However, this can only happen if specific policy changes are announced by the authorities. These were the key takeaways from the Brihanmumbai Developers Association (BDA) ‘Mega Unity Webinar,’ held on 8th June 2020 at 05.00 pm, which highlighted the pain points of real estate and endeavoured to come up with practical solutions and suggestions. The biggest webinar brought various developers associations, channel partners associations, architects engineers associations and allied associations together on a common platform for the first time ever.

Harrish Jain, Vice President, Brihanmumbai Developers Association (BDA), explained, “This pain has brought us all together, it may unite us together also. Real estate has been facing multiple problems and now the current crisis of COVID-19 has added to them. Earlier we were communicating differently with the government and that was not the right way. Uniting the associations will give us a voice which is stronger and will help us to communicate with the government in the right way. We have to be united together to achieve progress. We have been discussing problems all through the lockdown period during the BDA webinar series, now let’s concentrate on how to resolve them. Let us brainstorm and see how to get solutions out of this. Since there are so many associations participating today, we have to be united to resolve issues. Alone we are a drop, together we can be an ocean. There is strength in numbers, let’s unite together.”

Nayan Shah, President, CREDAI MCHI, made a comparison between real estate as a percentage of India’s economy vis-à-vis that in the USA, UK and China. “About 6% of India’s economy is real estate. India’s real estate value is $1.20-1.40 billion, our share will go up to $500-600 bn in the next 5-6 years. The government of India is spending more than Rs 7 lakh crores in agriculture, while the real estate sector is only asking for Rs 30,000-40,000 crore to grow from $140 bn to $500-600 bn. We are going to try to get relief from central government and Reserve Bank of India and the finance ministry, not as a matter of sympathy but because we have strength and we can make a big difference in the economic status of the country. Apart from the pains that we are passing through, it is important to give this economic data to the Government. Real estate has a price multiplier effect. This is the extent to which real estate can make a difference.”

Ajay Ashar, Spokesperson of the CREDAI MCHI MMR Action Committee, praised BDA for having accumulated so many players on one platform. “This is the right approach. When the Rs 20 lakh crore package was announced we had great expectations from the government as we are the second-largest employment generating sector. However, we were disappointed. Restructuring of loans is very important. Home loan rates to be reduced. So many things we are facing. I requested everybody, let us understand how much is the pain, how we can be united. We have to do something, get on one platform and focus. This is how the CREDAI MCHI MMR Action Committee was born. In no time we had 13 organizations ready to speak in one voice. In a democracy, everything comes down to numbers. We have so many different associations but all our causes are the same. If we unite and speak in one voice, nothing can stop us. If our combined voice reaches, it will resonate. Let’s have one voice, one agenda and one platform. We should stand and support each other. If our voice is unanimous and having common goals we can achieve anything. The economy will be revived only if our industry is rolling.”

CA Ramesh Prabhu, Chairman, Maharashtra Societies Welfare Association (MSWA), affirmed that “We are facing a huge crisis. Redevelopment is the need of the hour for Mumbai; every society is looking for developers to perform but we also understand the challenges faced by them. Applying GST on the rehab portion is a harsh step, the government needs to come up with some package for real estate and redevelopment.”

BDA Profile

The Brihanmumbai Developers Association (BDA) is created out of a Movement. It is more of a movement than an association. In a matter of 12 months, more than 500 developers mainly into redevelopment have joined the movement. Borivali Developers Association was born out of exactly such a need in the year 2019. A small group of five developers primarily involved in redevelopment projects in Borivali, initiated the idea of such an organisation. COVID 19 Economic Impact Study By Levers For Change A Report From Ground Zero Understand The Impact Of Corona Virus On Indian States Industries And Stakeholders

COVID-19 has changed the way the ‘normal’ world functions. It has rattled the fundamentals and we are all trying to cope with the ‘new normal’ – a term that is amongst the most trending today!

The team led by Mr.Ankur Kumar (Operating Partner), reached out to all the stakeholders they had ever come in contact with over their decade-long journey. They connected with hundreds of stakeholders: CEO’s, small business owners, farmers, large distributors, retailers, truck owners and salaried employees across states. They were able to cut across all strata leveraging their network, that covers almost 65% of India’s tehsils. All this, with the keen intent to provide constructive insights, to help businesses and stakeholders form a clear view of the economic situation.

Why did LFC feel a need to do this? What was the purpose of this study?

“COVID-19 has presented an unprecedented level of uncertainty in the business environment, and as consultants, the one question that our clients frequently ask – ‘when will the situation become normal?’ To answer this question, we looked at several data models that predict the opening of lockdown and recovery of the economy; however all these models varied significantly.”, explains Mr.Omprakash.

“Moreover, given the diversity of India, there are so many layers of complexity, for instance, certain states host high economic activities while there are others that are rather low on this scale; while, some states are connected to the international markets, some are fairly insulated from the global dynamics. This apart we have the quintessential urban-rural divide. None of the existing data models, in a nutshell, comprehensively addressed these complexities & dynamics that are peculiar to our country,  in many ways.”

“Given this diversity, exposure or lack of it and the divide across the states, it is difficult to make predictions that will hold ground country-wide or sector-wide. For example, Coimbatore, Tirupur, Karur in Tamilnadu and Surat, Vadodara in Gujarat,  are two prominent textile belts, but the severity of infection is different in each of these states. The value chain and recovery of the Textile sector are thus difficult to predict accurately.”

Businesses need to understand the country-wide recovery by actually looking at the markets and geographies at the ground level – local level.  We need to understand that even within a state, there are different economic centres, and each of it is exposed to varying degrees of impact.

Over the past decade, LFC has planned and implemented several sales transformation programs, spanning various sectors – Agriculture input, Construction, FMCG and several other industries. This helped build strategic touch-points across districts.

Mr.Ankur Kumar explains, “For the study, we identified the top 10 states in India that contribute to 75% of the GDP. In these states, we further identified districts that contribute to 80% of the state GDP. We tracked and reached out to our deep network in all these districts. We took their feedback – their view on the COVID-19 impact on Agricultural, Construction, Trade, Local Manufacturing, Local Transportation and other business activities – at their ground zero.”

“We combined their feedback with the metric of Healthcare System Readiness, which we understood from the Govt. websites – number of tests per million and medical infrastructure available to deal with the pandemic. We also read through the various reports published on COVID-19 and took wisdom from them. In this way, we created this report bottoms-up, from ground zero. It strives to help business leaders to find the right direction, to help pivot as needed.”

The report deep-dives and presents the ‘before-state’, ‘current-state’ and the actions taken by the Govt. that will impact the ‘future-state’. It explores the situation state-wise and sector-wise for insights.

A glimpse into the report

The largest, and most impacted state of Maharashtra from the economy point of view:

Maharashtra is the largest state of India, contributing to almost 14% of national GDP. It also accounts for 36% COVID-19 cases in India.

The top 3 districts have come to a total halt. COVID impact on the districts of Pune and Thane has hampered the manufacturing of the estate; Trade and Services based economy of Mumbai is also disrupted due to social distancing; Agriculture as a whole has taken a beating with farmers struggling with inefficient logistics, harvest being sold way below MSP and coping with a labour shortage.

Services contribute to 54% of GSDP, manufacturing is the second major contributor accounting for 27% of GSDP and agriculture contributing to 18% of GSDP. None of these sectors, except Agriculture, has seen any significant intervention from the Government to expedite the recovery process.

The number of cases in Maharashtra is expected to peak in the month of July and from there it should take further 2 months to emerge completely out of lockdown. However, the demand recovery and recovery of the economy as such should be expected only in the second quarter of FY22.

The report details the top 10 states in this manner. As such, with this study, LFC summarises that Indian towns will be fully back to normal by the end of Q3-FY21 and the Indian economy will revive by Q2-FY22.

Mr.Sunil Chordia – CMD, Rajratan Global Wire (Asia’s second-largest bead wire manufacturing company, with factories in India and Thailand), also a Member of CII, Western Region, too concurs with the findings and shared his views on the topic.

  

“The war against Corona is proving to be very costly. In spite of which part of the globe you live in or whatever type of interventions the government makes – the economic cost seems to be very high. In India particularly the economic cost of lockdown surely seems to be underestimated. While we might seem to be doing better in terms of infections, there is no real clarity on how the resumption of supply chains back to normal levels – will happen.”

“With already a highly broken & fragmented supply chain – opening up of lockdown being handled by different state governments differently, any model that predicts economic recovery shall be only partly true. In that sense, I find this study of LFC, reasonably fair – given their model looks at local economic centres and their recovery patterns. I tend to agree with their findings of the economy coming back to pre-COVID levels, surely not before Q2 of FY22”

Encouraging innovations in Pharma, the Hon’ble Minister declared that we should focus on ‘brain gain and avoid ‘brain drain’. Testing machines, PPE kits have been created within India, making us truly ‘AtmaNirbhar.’ PM Narendra Modi had set a target for conducting one lakh tests a day before May 31st, we have already surpassed that and have done 1,22,000 tests per day. India of 21st century will be a global inspiration for the development of the world. Today we have 600 PPE kits manufacturers making 3.5 lakh kits per day, sending them to all states. ‘Make in India’ has been given a boost, making India self-sufficient as well. Medical colleges have been augmented, we are not just adhering to global parameters but also exceeding them.”

“As soon as the COVID-19 pandemic was declared, PM Narendra Modi asked our ministry to start working on a solution. We have been monitoring what is happening across India and the world. A Group of Ministers was immediately convened and we have been expediting the search for a vaccine. Stopping International air travel to India, announcing the lockdown were important steps due to which today we are better off than the world. The Indian government’s thinking has been very good. The numbers are rising but if our PM hadn’t displayed foresight, the situation would have been much worse. Even developed countries having all the healthcare infrastructure and equipment can’t deal with COVID-19,” he added.

“Take care of yourself and others, adhere to lockdown norms. We have to learn to live with COVID-19, be prepared for lockdown 5.0. The government has relaxed norms during lockdown 4.0. Our self-confidence has not reduced and we have despite the circumstances even allowed economic activity to resume, returned migrants to their native place. The lockdown enables us to keep numbers in control. Steps have been taken to ensure that the poor are not left hungry. In which other country does the PM himself call people in villages and ask how they are coping with and managing the situation?” the Minister affirmed.

“A lot of healthcare innovations have been possible in India. The Indian government has been very supportive of innovative solutions. We don’t think just about ourselves, we care about the entire world. Crores of people have benefited from Ayushman Bharat. 21,000 hospitals from both, public and private sector have joined with it. We have 1.5 lakh primary health centres and will be transforming them into Health and Wellness centres, making the shift from illness to wellness. Telemedicine has progressed during COVID-19, connecting to even remote villages. People have benefitted a lot from this. Check-up systems have been enhanced. We want to move towards universal healthcare. We want to make check-ups affordable and easy to access. Health for all is a tradition in India. During COVID-19 we have issued healthcare advisories. We aim to make healthcare affordable with a holistic approach,” the Minister emphasized.

Nilesh Jain, Venture Partner Z Nation Lab, Founder Clinivantage Healthcare Technologies, moderated the panel. “During the last two and half months, while India has been under lockdown, pharma has been looking at innovation in a very different way, PM’s ‘AtmaNirbhar Bharat’ applies to pharma, we need to identify how we can be self-sufficient. Innovation is going to be the centrepiece of the pharma industry going forward” he opined.

Arvind Kumar Pandian, Strategic Partnerships, USAID, said, “The biggest challenge for innovations is access to market and access to capital. We help in solving that. We have made 1.4 bn investments, we work closely with the national and state governments. The challenge for innovators is getting access to large markets. We have partnered with National Health Authority and are providing $50 mn grants for innovators.”

Y.K. Gupta, Technical Committee (GLP Program) Program in DST on Digital Health, explained, “Any drug development requires clinical trial and clinical trials due to COVID-19 have been a challenge. If there is a large missing data, ultimately getting to a conclusion is a challenge. So the question can startups and pharma industry use AI for data usage and study to get more accurate results? The other challenge that can be solved is remote clinical trials and the caretaker can be the moderator.”

Sudarshan Jain, Secretary-General, Indian Pharmaceutical Alliance, said, “COVID-19 is a great opportunity; any adversity has to be transformed into an opportunity. There’s outstanding work that is being done in India. India controls 60% of the vaccine market. The timeframe for vaccine development in India has been reduced from 10 years to 1 year.”

Umang Chaturvedi, Head of Policy, Mylan Lab, said “A major concern is the dependence on other countries for the raw materials for medical equipment. The whole medical education infrastructure should be looked after. It is important to have a quick regulatory ecosystem.”
